Incident Rehabilitation

In 2010 about 60% of the Firefighter Line of Duty Deaths (LODD) was attributed to Stress and Overexertion, and cardio- or cerebro- vascular events.  Most of these incident are preventable by providing pre-duty and regular physicals and proper (NFPA 1584 complaint) Incident Rehabilitation.  This course was authored by Three Rivers CPR and was developed after over 500 hours of research and development.

This program is designed to demonstrate the need for effective and efficient Incident Rehabilitation for responders at emergency and planned events, provide an awareness to responders the potential signs and symptoms of fatigue vs. an acute medical emergency to ensure responder health and safety, offer a systematic Medical Screening Exam/Algorithm for use in the Rehabilitation Sector to catch potential medical emergencies before they result in severe injury and/or death, & deliver an understanding to non-medically trained responders how and why medical staff are evaluating them for fitness for duty.  The course will deal with how to establish and operate a rehabilitation center for emergency providers.

Call us today to help stop preventable LODD and present this program at your department!

This course covers the nine key components of NFPA 1584 compliance and illustrates different Rehab models that can be utilized and customised by your department and still maintain NFPA 1584 compliance.

At the conclusion of the presentation, participants shall be able to identify and describe:

  • when Rehab should be initiated
  • equipment and supplies needed for Rehab
  • the components of NFPA 1584
  • requirements to be compliant with NFPA 1584
  • medical screening exam for Rehab
